Case Summary

The defendant was from the Imperial Japanese Forces and was charged with the beating, torture and maltreatment of two victims. Abdul Razaq was allegedly beaten as he refused to push the defendant's cart for fear that his own cows would escape and he refused to give the defendant a chicken. He was also burnt with a piece of firewood on his arms, left thigh, right thigh and stomach. With regards to the second victim, Ram Sarup, it was alleged that the victim had cut down a coconut tree for food and refused to give it to the defendant, who then proceeded to beat the victim unconscious.

The defendant reportedly had a grudge against one of the civilian Indians. The Court decided to give him a longer sentence, calling him a bully and that he needed to learn that "you cannot be a petty despot and a menace to those around you."
